The program began proceedings in the year 1882 and during that time has managed to compile a record that goes over .500. As far as team championships go, they have got their hands on an impressive eighteen conference crowns. On top of that, they have also been crowned national champions on seven occasions while taking part in fifteen bowl games over the years.

Basketball

The Golden Gophers basketball program has been very successful as well. They have managed to lift nine regular season conference titles and have qualified for the NCAA Tournament a dozen times. They have also been crowned national champions thrice.

Baseball

Baseball has been one of Minnesota Golden Gophers strength for a long time. They have managed to clinch the regular season conference title on a whopping twenty two occasions. They have also gone on to win the conference tournament eight times. The Golden Gophers baseball sides have made it to the NCAA Tournament thirty times. They have also lifted the national championship thrice on their way to taking part in the College World Series five times as well. Golf

Men and women programs have combined to win a total of eight conference titles and one national crown. Golf has also seen two players pick up the national title on individual basis.

Hockey

The University of Minnesota’s hockey teams have produced good results for the most part of their history. They have lifted the regular season conference title and the conference tournament fourteen times each. They are also the reigning conference tournament winners.  Hockey has also seen them make their way to the NCAA Tournament just two short of three dozen times, winning it on five occasions.

Legacy

Minnesota Golden Gophers have managed to win a total of twenty seven national titles and a whopping one hundred and eighty three regular season conference crowns. They have also ended up on the winning side of the equation when it comes to conference tournament in various sports. They will be looking to add to this impressive record and it will take a very brave man to bet against them in their quest to do that.
