About the Forthcoming Events
The forthcoming series of games will be held at Milwaukee Admiral’s home field. At these showcases, the Rockford Icehogs will be challenging the Admiral’s in the latter team’s own city. Catering to as much as twenty thousand spectators, the BMO Harris Bradley Center is a multi-purpose arena located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Inaugurated in 1988, the ninety one million dollar facility is popular for hosting a variety of sports and entertainment events. Over the years it has held hockey games, collegiate basketball showcases, ice hockey tournaments, indoor soccer competitions and concerts. It also held auditions for season 10 of the singing reality show, American Idol. Over the years, the BMO Field has served as home to several tenants namely the Milwaukee Mustangs from the AFL, Milwaukee Wave from the MISL, Milwaukee Bucks from NBA, Marquette University’s varsity sports programs and Milwaukee Admirals. This time the venue is inviting fans of the Admirals to come witness exciting ice hockey games.
Introducing the Rockford Icehogs
Formed in 1995, the Rockford Icehogs are a professional ice hockey franchise based in Rockford, Illinois. Currently competing in American Hockey League’s Midwest Division of the Western Conference, the Icehogs are the top affiliate of NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. Initially established as the Baltimore Bandits, the team underwent several relocations and name changes before they became the Rockford Icehogs. It was in 2007 that the franchise was seen relocating from Cincinnati to Rockford, that it became the Rockford Icehogs. Owned by BMO Harris Bank City, the Icehogs are managed by Mark Bernard with Ted Dent serving as the team’s head coach. The team members are seen supporting the colors red, white and black to their games and fans can look forward to see the team battle it out once again at forthcomings games.
Icehogs’ Season by Season Game Results
As the Rockford Icehogs, the team has competed in six seasons up till now. Their debut season was in 2007 in which the team won 46 out of a total of 80 games, reaching a point average of 0.613. Scoring 247 goals, the team landed in second place in the West Conference. The 2008 season brought forth similar success as the Icehogs won 40 out of 80 games, scoring 229 goals. They ended the season being placed fourth in the conference. Their winning streak continued as the year 2009 won the Icehogs 44 games with 226 goals. They landed in third place in the Western conference. During all these years the Icehogs qualified to compete in the playoffs where the team competed for the AHL Championship.
The forthcoming years i.e. 2010, 2011 and 2012 didn’t qualify the team for the playoffs; however, the Rockford Icehogs were ranked in the top ten Midwest Division teams.
Icehogs’ Current Roster
Fans of the Icehogs can look forward to watching some of their favorite players from the team’s current roster compete. Players that make up the Rockford Icehogs include center players; Alex Broadhurst, Phillip Danault, Byron Froese, Drew LeBlanc, Mark McNeill, Pat Mullane and Joakim Nordstorm, left-wingers; Brad Winchester, Garret Ross, Wade Brookbank, Terry Broadhurst and Kyle Beach, right-wingers; Jimmy Hayes and Maxim Shalunov. Defensemen of the team comprise of Adam Clendening, Klas Dahlbeck, Joe Gleason, Jared Nightingale, Dylan Olsen, Theo Peckham, Bobby Shea and Viktor Svedberg. Last but not the least; the Icehogs’ goaltender position is filled by Kent Simpson.
