Early Years

Formed in 2002, the Zac Brown Band was initially started as a three piece act. The following year, Zac established his own recording label, now known as the Southern Ground. In 2004, he started a restaurant and a music club called the ‘Zac’s Place’ that featured a southern-style cooking. After the restaurant’s buyout, the band bought a tour bus and began making regular music festivals and concert appearances. The band toured heavily during its initial years, performing almost 200 dates annually.

Albums

The first two studio album by the band, ‘Far From Einstyne’ (2004) and ‘Home Grown’ (2005) were released independently. Both the albums saw moderate success but failed to reach the US charts. In 2008, the band released its third studio album ‘The Foundation’ on a major recording label, the Atlantic Records. The album was well received by the audiences and produced four number one hits including ‘Free’, ‘Highway 20 Ride’, ‘Toes’ and ‘Chicken Friend’. The album charted at number two position on the Top Country Albums chart and number nine spot on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified three times platinum status in the US and platinum in Canada.

This was followed by two more studio albums, ‘You Get What You Give’ (2010) and ‘Uncaged’ (2012), both of which peaked at number one positions on the Billboard 200 chart as well as US Top Country Albums chart. ‘Uncaged’ met with high critical success and bagged the 2013 Grammy Award for ‘Best Country Album’. Since its release, the album has been certified gold in Canada and the US.
