Journey is a San Francisco based rock band that was originally formed by Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch in 1973. Currently, the band is made up of five members including the lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, lead guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Ross Valory, keyboardist Jonathan Cain and drummer Deen Castronovo.
Studio Albums
The rock band has released one diamond album, eight multi-platinum albums and two gold albums till date. Some of the famous albums include Escape, Captured, Frontiers, Trial by Fire, Revelation and several others. The band's 1981 studio album, Escape has topped the Billboard 200 chart and comprises of three top ten hits including Don't Stop Believin', Who's Cryin' Now and Open Arms. Open Arms is a beautiful ballad that charted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1982 and remained there for six consecutive weeks. To date, this is the band's best-selling studio album that is certified nine times platinum. Journeys' fourth and triple platinum album, Infinity has opened at number twenty one on the Billboard 200 chart. The fifth album, Evolution has also peaked the UK, US, Japanese, Swedish and Canadian charts. Departure is one of the most sought-after albums of the band that landed at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart in 1980. Some of the famous singles of the album include Any Way You Want It, Walks like a Lady and Good Morning Girl. Released through the Columbia Records, Raised on Radio garnered huge chart success, landing at number four on the US charts. Not only this, the Frontiers album opened at number two on the album charts and spawned four Top 40 hits such as Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), Faithfully, Send Her My Love and After the Fall.
Journey to Success
Since its inception, the band's songs have been featured in many films, video games as well as television and Broadway shows. The band's single, Don't Stop Believin' was also played at the 2005 and 2010 World Series events of the baseball teams. While releasing chartbusting albums, the band continued to tour regularly and extensively. During one of the tours, the group planned to record a video documentary, Frontiers and Beyond, hence signed a recording deal with the NFL Films. The scenes of the movie were shot at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and attracted over eighty thousand people in attendance.
