Growing up in a family of musicians, Diana learned to play the piano when she was four. She mastered the art of singing in her teen years and began to perform in jazz clubs and restaurants of her neighborhood. She got her major break in 1993 with the release of her first album, Stepping Out. The album was certified Gold by the Music Canada which made way for her coming albums. Collaborating with the music producer Tommy LiPuma, she came up with her second album Only Trust Your Heart in 1995. This record became popular with the listeners and brought her to the mainstream.
Diana rose to fame with the release of her third studio record All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio in 1996. The album received the Gold certification from the RIAA and was also nominated for a Grammy. Her musicianship refined after gaining experience in the industry and she established a strong repute. The release of her next album Love Scenes took her career to new levels of success. Getting commercial and critical success, the album went Platinum in the US.
The next album When I Look in Your Eyes followed in 1999 and proved to be a Multi-Platinum record. In 2000, she embarked on a 20-city tour with the renowned musician Tony Bennett. Mounting sales of Diana Krall tickets made her one of the most demanded artists of the time and she performed at a number of leading venues for her fans. This widespread success was accompanied by the popularity of the next album The Look of Love, which came out in 2001. Topping the charts in Canada, it also proved to be her first top ten at the Billboard 200.
The next album The Girl in the Other Room was released in 2004 that turned out to be another successful record. Diana’s take on the Christmas tunes worked for her and the 2005 album Christmas Songs added to her versatile music repertoire. The following studio record From This Moment On topped the charts in Canada and reached at seven on the Billboard. This commercial fame was complimented by a variety of tours to multiple locations.
Continuing a fabulous recording career, Diana released Quite Nights in 2009 that became her highest-charting album on the Billboard 200. It received Gold and Platinum certifications in different countries and was an international success. Spending three years to revive her songwriting skills, Diana came up with her latest studio record Glad Rag Doll in October 2012.
The album presented a sound blend of witty themes and fresh instrumentation. It was admired by the critics besides performing well on the charts.
