Hailing from Concord, the award winning band The Avett Brothers has enthralled millions around the world for over a decade. The indie folk rock band has produced chart breaking albums that have earned critical appraise. The group is renowned for its electrifying live performances and concerts. The Beginnings
The Avett Brothers currently comprises of the brothers Scott and Seth Avett along with Mike Marsh on drums, Joe Kwon on cello and Bob Crawford on double bass. The band originated in the late 1990s after Scott’s college band Nemo merged with Seth’s high school group Margo. In 2000, the brothers experimented with acoustic music and released their first EP ‘The Avett Bros’. After Nemo disbanded, the brothers continued to work together and in 2002 released their first studio album ‘Country Was’. The independently released album featured songs such as ‘Closing Night’, ‘Besides the Yellow Line’ and ‘A Lot of Moving’.
Major Albums
After releasing three more studio albums including ‘Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions’ (2006), ‘Mignonette’ (2004) and ‘A Carolina Jubilee’ (2003), the band released their first chart breaking album ‘Emotionalism’ in 2007. The album reached number one spot on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and number thirteen on the Independent Artists chart. It received widespread critical acclaim and scored a four star rating by Allmusic. The album’s success placed the band under the national spotlight.
The band’s sixth studio album, ‘I and Love and You’ was even a greater hit with the critics and fans. Produced by renowned musician Rick Rubin, the album charted at number sixteen position on the Billboard 200 chart and also landed at seventy-two spot on the UK Albums chart.
The group’s highest charting album, ‘The Carpenter’, was released in 2012. It reached number four spot on the Billboard 200 chart, number three on the US Top Rock Albums chart and number eight on the Canadian Albums chart. The critically acclaimed album was also listed amongst the ‘Top 50 Albums of 2012’ by the Rolling Stone magazine.
