Early Days

The gifted musician, Chris Young was inclined towards music since a very young age. He took part in church choirs during his teenage years. However, he had never thought about taking up music as a full time career. Over a period of time he realized that he really enjoyed performing on stage before an audience. He discovered that he was actually quite good at it and hence began thinking of making a living out of it. He played at many local clubs while simultaneously studying at high school and university.

Nashville Star

The big break for Chris Young came when he was selected to participate as a contestant on the fourth season of the popular singing show, Nashville Star. After he won the contest, recording offers began pouring in. Chris eventually signed a contract with RCA Records under which his debut self-titled album was released. Four tracks from this record were penned by the musician himself. The songs charted high on the music countdowns and the then 21 year old crooner became an international star.

Career Highlights

With just his second studio album ‘The Man I Want to Be,’ Chris Young was able to score the number one hit song, ‘Getting’ You Home.’ The record’s title track also topped the music charts. The rest of the songs in the collection reflected the singer’s strong affection for traditional country music. The album featured cover songs of Waylon Jennings’s ‘Rose in Paradise’ and Tony Joe White’s ‘Rainy Night in Georgia.’ Apart from number one singles, ‘The Man I Want to be’ is also Young’s first album to be certified Gold.

The year 2011 saw the release of Chris’s third studio album ‘Neon.’ The lead track of the record ‘Tomorrow’ went on to become the biggest hit of the country musician’s career. The song ranked fourth on the list of the Most Popular Country Singles of 2011.

3 A.M

Chris Young’s latest album ‘3 AM’ released in 2013. The record has a rich mix of upbeat songs and powerful ballads. The title track is a perfect example of how the musician is able to belt out an upbeat number without having to sing in a high pitch. On the other hand, the collection also has a strong ballad like ‘Goodbye. The single ‘Text me Texas’ showcases the singer’s fondness for traditional country and his ability to blend it with the modern music trends. The result is a classic patriotic song like ‘Text me Texas.’
