Originating from Jamaica back in 1960s, Reggae music nowadays stands as one of the most popular music genre in the world. Over the years, this genre has developed a lot and has given birth to sub genres such as Hip Hop, Dancehall and Reggae Fusion. Reggae music contains substantial elements of American Jazz, R&B and old school African music. The origin of the Reggae music comes from the timely evolution of rocksteady and Ska music, which was pretty popular in 60s Jamaica. Among some of the pioneers of the Reggae, is also the renowned reggae musician, Count Ossie. The Ska genre originated back in 1959, and one of the main features of that genre is the walking bass line fused with jazzy horn riffs that are sometimes offbeat along with rhythms played through piano or guitar.

After Ska genre received good amount of fame in Jamaica, it went on to earn its share of fame in Britain too by 1964. The creation of Reggae music followed soon after and one of the Ska groups of that time named Rude Boys intentionally started playing the Ska tracks at slower speeds. Soon after, this became the hip thing of that time, and several musicians of that time experimented by following that trick. Later on, that slow sound got itself a name of its own, and that was Rocksteady. After that, most of the musicians followed the tradition of slowing the beat down along with added effects, and that gave birth to the genre that we now know as Reggae.

Following this transition from Rocksteady to Reggae music was massively pioneered by Bunny Lee. This transition can be witness in the earliest tracks of 1967 titled "Long Shot Bus". The true sound of the reggae music emerged back in early 1968, when singles like No More Heartaches and Nanny Goat surfaced on the music scene. Reggae music emerged on the American music charts for the first time back in 1968, when an American musician Johnny Nash released his hit single titled Hold Me Tight. After the appraisal that the genre was receiving, reggae music also made its place in other genres of music like Rock, the biggest example of which is the Beatles' famed track titled Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. One of the most famous bands of the 60s named The Wailers, which featured Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, is credited to be the group that made music in all three transitional forms of the Reggae music. The example of that could be found by listening to the group's Ska tracks like Slimmer Down. But of course The Wailers weren't the only ones who did so; there were also other musicians like Jackie Mittoo, Prince Bustier and many more.

Reggae music took its toll in the United States back in 1972 after the popularity of the hit movie titled The Harder They Come. The movies starred Jimmy Cliff and earned a fair amount of viewership and popularity for the Reggae music. Later on, Eric Clapton added on to that by releasing his cover of Bob Marley's hit single, "I Shot the Sheriff" in 1974. By that time Reggae music attained the status of being the mainstream genre, and reggae songs started getting fair amount of airplay of various radio channels as well. From that day onwards till today, Reggae music's fan base has been consistently growing over time, with inclining number of Reggae musicians pooling in every now and then. Some of the greats of present and past of the Reggae music include Bob Marley, Aisha, Bounty Killer, Black Slate, Chalice, Clint Eastwood, Dillinger, Earl Sixteen, Fathead, Inner Circle and many more.

Growing fan base also means demand for more Reggae concerts, which by the way are schedule every year to meet that demand. So if you're one of those demanding reggae music fans, then our wide range of Reggae tickets might help you attend one of those concerts at affordable rates.
