A cherished tradition of the New York's holiday season, Radio City Christmas Spectacular is once again coming to the town. The entertaining production is ready to take over your mind this holiday season. Touring multiple cities including Tampa, West Palm Beach, Atlanta and Nashville, the show will be opening for grand celebrations on November 8, 2013. Gear up for some unique Christmas fun as the show is a treat that you don't want to miss.

Start of a tradition

This magnificent tradition began in 1933 when the first Christmas Spectacular was produced. The original format of the show included musical numbers and the screening of Hollywood films of that time. Conceived by the producer Leon Leonidoff, the show entertained the audience with classic holiday music as well as ballet performances. The stars of the show, known as the Rockettes, made the whole experience hard to forget with their sensational precision dance sequences. Radio City Christmas Spectacular evolved into a ninety-minute stage production in 1979 and screening of the movies was discontinued. As the time passed, the show became technically more advanced and grew in number of acts. Every year, over a million devotees gather to celebrate this beloved tradition and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets have always seen an increase in demand. Today, Radio City Christmas Spectacular features latest 3D technology, mind-blowing special effects and over 140 fantastic performers- the beautiful Rockettes.

The Show

Radio City Christmas Spectacular features a ninety-minute magical journey. It starts with the musical number Sleigh Ride and transforms into a 3D extravaganza. Throughout the show Santa Claus plays the role of host. It smoothly progresses and features spellbinding performances by the glamorous Rockettes. Their synchronized-to-perfection precision routines and eye-high kicks stun the audiences. The magic of Nutcracker takes everyone back to their childhood and refreshes wonderful memories of the past. Let Christmas Shine presents the show-stopping performers grooving and harmonizing. The show's final number Joy to the World leaves the audiences craving for more. 2013 marks the 81st Anniversary of the show and once again the Radio City Music Hall will be decked out for the grand Christmas celebrations.

Off-season Touring and Recordings

Besides the annual holiday season run, Radio City Christmas Spectacular has toured with its remarkable live shows across the country. The first off-season show premiered in Branson, Missouri that marked the return to home for the Rockettes, as they originated from St. Louis in 1925. It successfully ran from 1994 to 2003 in numerous cities. Celebrating the Christmas Spectacular's 75th anniversary in 2007, an updated version of the show was produced and was later released as a DVD. The show has also been recorded and released in video and audio formats by famous productions such as HBO and Time Life Entertainment. A special edition of the show's musical numbers under the title The Radio City Christmas Spectacular was released by the Sony Entertainment in 2000. The track list of the show, The Radio City Rockettes Sing Your Christmas Favorites was released by the Mega Media in 2008.
