Formation

The Golden Dragon Acrobats was officially established in 1967 by Lien Chi Chang. The founding members of the company included Lien’s son Danny Chang as well as his other students. For almost two decades, Lien led the company to numerous international performances, dazzling people of all ages from eighty years old adults to eight years old children. In 1984, Danny Chang became the President of his father’s company after working under him for seventeen years. With entrepreneurial passion and artistic zeal, Danny set the goal to transform the Golden Dragon Acrobats from a small performance group to a world renowned production company. He collaborated with Bill Fegan and marked the company’s new direction in 1985 by debuting in the US.

Company’s Success

Since then, Danny Chang along with wife Angela Chang continues to take the Golden Dragon Acrobats to new heights every passing year. The company has already performed in fifty US states, with a touring career spanning over three decades. In 2005, the company marked its Broadway debut at the New Victory Theatre. The seven-week run on Broadway earned critical as well as commercial appraise. Both Danny and Angela won the Drama Desk Award nominations for the 'Most Unique Theatrical Experience' and 'Best Choreography' respectively.

The Show

Golden Dragon Acrobats’ latest show, Cirque Ziva is another gem produced by the Artistic Director. The show was first staged in 2011 at the Asbury Park Boardwalk’s Paramount Theatre. A technically innovative and fast-paced show, Cirque Ziva was an instant hit with the audiences as well as critics.

Now, the Golden Dragon Acrobats is all set to take the critically acclaimed show for a countrywide tour. Cirque Ziva will be playing at all the major theater halls including Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium, the Peabody Auditorium, Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, Fred Kavli Theater and Florida Theatre. The Golden Dragon Chinese Acrobats tickets will be all the rage amongst the Chinese acrobat fans.
