Based on the film version, the musical pretty much follows the same storyline. It revolves around a prince, cursed by an enchantress into a beast for his selfish and cruel outlook on life. The Beast can only break the spell if someone truly falls in love with him despite his appearance and that too within a certain time period.

Enter Belle, is a beautiful, smart and adventurous girl who is imprisoned by the Beast when she tries to save her father from his castle. With a chance to finally win somebody’s love, the Beast wants Belle to be the one. The basic theme dictating the musical revolves around why and how it is more important to see past the appearances and into their heart to find true love.
