Ballet BC was established in 1986 in Vancouver with a purpose to foster international level ballet in the locality. Led by some of the extremely talented and dedicated teams of the time, the company started its operations and soon developed a strong reputation in the city.

In Recent Times

Today, Ballet BC consists of 18 highly trained and professional dancers with a repertoire of numerous contemporary works. The company frequently collaborates with local associations and other significant ballet companies to nurture arts and dance in the city. Key People

Besides the permanent dancers and apprentices, the artistic staff of Ballet BC includes two of the highly dynamic, powerful and energetic people who serve as the backbone of the company. These are none other than the Artistic Director, Emily Molnar and the Rehearsal Director, Sylvain Senez.

Emily Molnar joined Ballet BC in 2009 and since then has steered the company towards the new avenues of success and acclaim. A graduate from the National Ballet School and one of the former members of the National Ballet of Canada, Molnar is listed among the most influential ballerinas of the country. She has performed with several international companies including the New York City and Frankfurt Ballet. She has also worked as a soloist and choreographer besides touring around the Canada, Europe, Asia and the US. Currently she holds office at the Ballet BC as the Artistic Director and Choreographer of the company.

Sylvain Senez’s experience in ballet spans more than three decades. Starting a career with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in 1979, he performed as a soloist for the company for nine years. In 1991, he joined Ballet BC as one of its principal dancers and performed for twelve consecutive seasons. After retiring from full time dancing in 2001, Senez works as the Rehearsal Director of the company and occasionally performs as the guest artist in some of its shows.


Ballet BC offers some of the finest outreach and training workshops to the learners as well as professional dancers. Among other programs, The Artist Salon, Studio Visits, Artist-in-Residence Program, The Choreographic Series and Summer Dance Intensive are some of the best opportunities offered by the company.
