WWE – An Integrated Media Company

WWE has come a long way under the dynamic leadership of Vince McMahon. Former wrestler and today the CEO of the organization, he transformed it from simply being a pro wrestling foundation to a multifaceted media company. WWE has evolved over the years and while earlier it focused on hardcore wrestling only, today it has added many entertainment elements into the sport. The company operates under its two major brands; RAW and SmackDown. Each has its own wrestlers, rules and championships.

WWE has expanded its operations and today arranges shows in more than 145 countries, in various languages. Pay-per-view shows like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Extreme Rules, Elimination Chamber and WWE Hell in a Cell are brought to millions of homes worldwide and have received great ratings. WWE’s popularity is such that the organization has branched out into different fields and owns a studio, performance center and libraries. WWE has its very own music group, as well as released several video games, books and home videos.

WWE SmackDown

WWE inaugurated its extremely popular brand SmackDown in 1999. It’s mostly referred to as the “Super SmackDown” and there are others who call it “Friday Night SmackDown”. All the wrestlers who are a part of the SmackDown team are bound by a contract, that doesn’t allow them to sign with any other organization; in fact, not even with the WWE subsidiaries. WWE has launched the careers of some of the top wrestlers who have become household names today. These include Sheamus, Undertaker, Heath Slater, The Great Khali, Jack Swwagger, Big Show, Dean Ambrose and Big E Langston. The Divas who have enjoyed equal amount of fame and success are Layla, Kaitlyn, Tamina and Natalya, among others.
