The Texas Longhorns athletics program is well over a century old. They have been representing their university in multiple sports and that too with a lot of distinction. The Longhorns have, for the most part been, there and thereabouts in a lot of those sports to cement their place among the most famous programs in the country today. The latest campaign will bring its share of excitement for Longhorn fans. Their song "Texas Fight" will be heard at arenas all around the country as their supporters are getting their hands on in huge numbers.
The Texas Longhorns have been a force to be reckoned with in a lot of sports played on collegiate level. In football they have been there and have done it all. Since their first ever football team stepped on to the field, Longhorns have gone from strength to strength to solidify their status among the best.
Apart from a dozen unclaimed national titles, they have also clinched the claimed national crown on four occasions. The Longhorns football program has competed in fifty-one bowl games, winning twenty-seven out of those. They have won an astonishing eight hundred and thirty-six games out of a total of one thousand two hundred and thirty six games they have played over the years. On top of that, the Texas Longhorns have clinched a whopping thirty-two conference crowns and have produced an impressive one hundred and twenty nine All- Americans. The football team plays its home games at the magnificent Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium which can host a staggering 100,119 people at a time.
The Texas Longhorns are no novices in basketball. They have been pretty consistent over the years. In basketball, the Longhorns have gone on to win a total of twenty-five regular season conference championships and another two conference tournaments. The men’s basketball program has gone on to make thirty appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Under the guidance of their current coach Rick Barnes, they have posted over twenty wins a season for the last eleven years straight. Women haven’t done too badly either. The Texas Longhorns women’s basketball has been crowned regular season conference champions on ten occasions while winning the conference tournament ten times. They also have one national title against to their name.
The Texas Longhorns have been utterly dominant in baseball too. They have won an astonishing 77 regular season conference crowns and sixteen conference tournaments. On top of that, they have also been crowned national champions half a dozen times.
Some Other Sports
The Texas Longhorns have also clinched the prestigious College World Series six times. They have got their hands on forty two golf conference titles to go with three national championships. Swimming and diving has seen the Longhorns men’s and women’s programs win a combined total of 74 conference and 19 national championships. Both programs have also gone on to lift a total of forty two conference crowns in cross country too.
