After three years, the club played its first season in the MLB in 1998 as Tampa Bay Devil Rays. For almost a decade the team failed to make its mark, finishing last in several successive seasons.

New Name and Championships

For the 2008 season, owner Stuart Sternberg rebranded the team as Tampa Bay Rays and changed the team's official colors. The Rays also managed to defeat the Boston Red Sox to bag its first ‘AL Pennant'. The team advanced to the World Series Finals, but lost to the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2010, the Rays again finished the season at number one position in the East Division and won their second ‘East Division Title'.
