Representing the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Badgers are one of the most competitive athletic teams playing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Comprising of twenty three varsity teams of both men and women, the Badgers are a part of the Big Ten Conference and compete as a Division I team in the NCAA. The team has several multipurpose arenas for its use, including the UW Field House, Kohl Center and the Camp Randall Stadium for football games. This season, the Badgers will be competing against some of the best NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision clubs such as BYU Cougars, Purdue Boilermakers, Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, Penn State Nittany Lions and Northwestern Wildcats.

The Varsity Teams & National Championships

There are a total of twenty three varsity teams that play under the Wisconsin Badgers banner. Since the 1896 season, all teams have been playing under the Big Ten Conference. The women’s sports include volleyball, track & field, tennis, swimming, softball, soccer, rowing, ice hockey, golf, cross country and basketball. On the other hand, the men’s sports include wrestling, track and field, tennis, swimming, soccer, rowing, ice hockey, golf, football, cross country, and basketball.

 

As a whole, the Wisconsin Badgers have managed to bag twenty-eight ‘NCAA National Championships’. These national titles include one men’s soccer championship, one men’s indoor track and field title, four women’s ice hockey titles, six men’s ice hockey titles, two women’s cross country championships, five men’s cross country titles, one men’s basketball championship and eight boxing titles.

 

Men’s Football

The Badgers’ football team has been one of the Big Ten Conference’s most successful teams since the 1990s. Playing their inaugural season in 1889, the Badger’s football team has won several championships and titles over the years including fourteen ‘Conference Titles’. Their post-season Bowl record is 11-13, where as the team players have won two ‘Heisman Trophies’. Eight players have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

 

The team plays home games at the Camp Randall Stadium. The state of the art facility can accommodate over eighty thousand football fans. Opened in 1917, the football venue is one of the fifty largest stadiums in the world.

 

The Live Experience

All Badgers’ games enjoy large match attendance numbers. The team manages to attract all sports lovers from around the country every season. Witnessing the Badgers live on the basketball courts or the football fields is always a thrilling experience for the viewers.

 

This season, the Badgers men’s football club will be playing against the rival NCAA Division 1 FBS clubs. The team will be playing the away games at Iowa City’s Kinnick Stadium, University Park’s Pegula Ice Arena, Minneapolis’s Mariucci Arena and the TCF Bank Stadium.
