Under the dynamic coaching of Jay Wright, Villanova Wildcats basketball team has played an exceptional season. With many games still in the pipeline, fans are looking forward to more wonderful performances by this talented side. If the Wildcats continue with their winning streak then they will most likely enjoy number one position at the Big East tournament and a great amount of respect from the supporters. The team will be playing many away games and will soon be travelling to Omaha to face Creighton Bluejays. They have several games lined up at the Wells Fargo Center, where they will be playing against St Johns Red Storm, Marquette Golden Eagle and Georgetown Hoyas. Villanova Wildcats

Representing the Villanova University, the Wildcats play 24 different varsity sports and are the members of the NCAA Division I. Both men and women participate in the sports program that is headed by the athletic director, Vince Nicastro. The athletic department offers the best facilities to the athletes and in return, the players have won many championships for the university. Villanova Wildcats have a strong presence in numerous sports which include basketball, football, track & field, lacrosse and swimming & diving.

Villanova Wildcats football team has won six Conference Titles and plays its home games at the Villanova Stadium. Men’s lacrosse team competes in the Big East Conference and has made an appearance at the NCAA Tournament twice. The team won Conference Title in 2009. The Wildcats perhaps excel the most in Track & Field as they have won both Big East Championships as well as NCAA titles. 69 individual athletes have brought glory for the university by winning NCAA titles in outdoor and indoor events. Track & Field team has clinched eight championships, having produced many athletes who have made it to the Olympics. Women’s varsity teams have also excelled in various sports and Track & Field team has especially won individual honors.

Villanova Wildcats Basketball Team

Villanova Wildcats has been playing basketball since the 20s and boast of a great record. The team has enjoyed many successful seasons and made it four times to the Final Four. Overall the Wildcats has made an appearance at the NCAA tournament 33 times. In 1985, the team was crowned NCAA champions and has seven Conference titles to its name.

Under the coach Jay Wright, Villanova Wildcats basketball team has recorded some great wins. A dynamic coach, Wright has nurtured the talent of many players and in his tenure, the team has produced many notable athletes. Some of the players trained by Jay Wright who made it to the NBA are Norman Richardson, Randy Foye, Allan Ray, Speedy Claxton, Dante Cunningham, Kyle Lowry and Maalik Wayns.

Playing his final collegiate season, the Wildcats Guard, James Bell is leading the team to many thrilling wins and has already recorded his season high score. He has helped the team bounce back into many games where it seemed the Wildcats would have to face defeat. That’s one of the biggest strengths of Villanova Wildcats; the ability of the players to change the face of the game within seconds.
