The Mediterraneo Stadium
The forthcoming game between Valencia CF and UD Almeria is expected to be held at the Mediterraneo Stadium. Located in Almeria, Spain the venue was inaugurated in 2004. Owned by Ayuntameinto de Almeria the multi-purpose facility is not only known for hosting popular football games, it also holds athletics events regularly. Providing space for as much as twenty two thousand spectators, the Estadio Del Mediterraneo is most famous for hosting the Mediterranean Games in 2005. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Mediterranean Games invited over 3200 male and female athletes from over 21 countries. With the chance of winning 258 medals, these athletes participate in 27 different sports. This time the sports’ arena is inviting football fans to witness a game that will bring forth some of football’s top franchises.
Introducing Valencia CF
At the game, Valencia CF will be challenging UD Almeria, at the latter team’s home stadium. Founded in 1919 and officially approved as a football franchise in the same year, Valencia Club de Futbol is one of Spain’s most supported clubs. With Octavio Augusto Milego Diaz appointed as the team’s first president, Valencia CF played its debut game in the same year. The game took place against Valencia Gimnastico and was held away from the team’s home. From 1923 till presently, Valencia FC has practiced at the Mestalla Stadium. It is scheduled to relocate to the Nou Mestalla Stadium once the 75000 capacity football arena is completed. In its first season at the Mestalla Stadium, the football club was able to win the Regional Championship in a game held against Castellon Castalia in 1923. Joining La Liga after the Spanish Civil War came to an end in 1941; the team was able to win its very first La Liga Championship title. Further seasons i.e. 1943-44 and 1946-47 brought forth more wins as the teams were able to bag championship titles in these years. During the fifties, Valencia FC grew as a team and so did its supporters. Due to the club’s increasing popularity, its home stadium i.e. the Mestalla Stadium underwent renovations to increase the seating capacity. In its 1953-54 season the team won its debut Copa Del Generalisimo; football’s most respected title of that time.

Currently Valencia CF competes in the La Liga league, which is known as one of the most popular and biggest football clubs in European and Spanish football. Throughout its career, the Spanish franchise has won seven prestigious Copa Del Rey trophies, six La Liga championships, two UEFA Super Cups and Fairs Cups and one of UEFA Winners Cups’ and UEFA Cups. Supporting the colors orange, blue, yellow and black, the Valencia CF is currently owned by Amadeo Salvo with Juan Antonio Pizzi as the team’s manager. The roster consists of forward players namely Pablo Piatti, Jonas, Helder Postiga, Dorlan Pabon, Paco Alcacer and Robert Ibanez and defenders, Ruben Vezo, Victor Ruiz, Joao Pereira, Antonio Barragan, Ricardo Costa, Jeremy Mathieu and Jose Gaya. Midfielder’s positions are filled by Oriol Romeu, Sofiane Feghouli, Ever Banega, Juan Bernat, Javi Fuego, Andres Guardado, Dani Parejo and Sergio Canales.
