The UNLV Rebels football team played their first game on 14th September 1968. The Rebels won the game and had a pretty successful debut season overall. They didn’t lose a single game till they came up against the Kingsmen by a 17-13 score. Their record read 8-1 which was extremely good going considering it was their first season in NCAA. The Rebels have since gone on to get their hands on two conference titles and have produced one Consensus All-American. They have also made it to three postseason bowl games, winning all three of those.

Basketball

Basketball has been one of their strengths over the years. The sport has earned UNLV Rebels a lot of plaudits from every corner for all that they have achieved in it. They have gone on to win twelve regular season conference titles to go with thirteen conference tournaments. They have made it to the NCAA Tournament on twenty occasions on their way to clinching the title once. They also have notched up an all-time winning percentage of well over .710 which solidifies their place as one of the best in the business. Women began to play basketball in the year 1974 and have been pretty successful as well since then. They have made appearances in the NCAA Tournament eight times and the AIAW Tournament on four occasions. They have also managed to lift four regular season conference titles and five conference tournaments.

Golf

The sport of golf has been a major part of all that the UNLV Rebels have achieved over the years. Their men’s golf program is regarded among the best in the business. The program has produced two individual national champions and one team national championship. They have also got their hands on six conference titles while qualifying for an NCAA spot for twenty one straight years. Women’s Rebels started to play golf in 2001 and have since gone on to clinch three conference titles and three All-Americans. They have also produced three Conference Freshman of the Year and two coaches have got the Conference Coach of the Year awards as well.
