Early Years & Championships

Formed in 1977 as an expansion team in Toronto, the Blue Jays began playing home games at the Exhibition Stadium. Initially, the club faced typical failures of an expansion franchise, finishing in last place for several seasons. However in 1985, the club managed to bag its first ‘Division Championship'. For seven more years, the Blue Jays dominated the professional baseball scene. They became a powerhouse, winning three back to back ‘Division Championships', beginning in 1991. During this time, the Blue Jays also managed to win two successive ‘World Series Championships'. This championship team comprised of award winning All-Star players like Devon White, John Olerud, Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar. The Blue Jays have managed to win a total of five ‘Division Championships', two ‘American League Pennants' and two ‘World Series Titles'. Since 1993, the club has failed to appear in any playoff, but still remain a highly competitive team in its respective division.

Currently, the Blue Jays are owned by Rogers Communication. The club is managed by Alex Anthopoulos and John Gibbons. The team comprises of exceptionally skilled baseball players such as Colby Rasmus, Melky Cabrera, Brett Lawire, Emilio Bonifacio, Josh Thole, Aaron Loup, Brett Cecil, Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle. Blue Jays play home games at the Rogers Center. Opened in 1989, the multipurpose stadium is located in downtown Toronto, Ontario.
