The Beginning

It was in the year 2004 that Total Nonstop Action decided to air its own flagship show. The program was to be one hour long and was officially packaged as TNA Impact!. It made its debut on 4th June but the contract with Fox Sports Net was for a year only. Its last episode was broadcasted on 27th May, 2005.

A New Beginning

Total Nonstop Action was itself a new organization in those days. It now needed a new channel to broadcast the show because the organization’s growth depended on it. That is when Spike TV entered the frame and signed an agreement with TNA to air TNA Impact!. The first episode was broadcasted on 1st October, 2005. That was the start of a collaboration that has lasted till today.

Expansion

With a permanent network to broadcast its episodes, TNA Impact Wrestling started to generate headlines. Slowly but surely, it began to gather quite a fan following, a lot of which was down to the content targeting the traditional adult demographic. The action was intense and more and more wrestlers started to join TNA ranks.

The success it enjoyed paved the way for the management to turn it into a live show. Its first live episode was broadcasted on 27th March 2008 on its normal time slot on Friday. That added an extra dimension to Impact!. The number of its fans increased even further after that. TNA’s management then made the bold decision to move the show to Mondays to go head to head with none other than RAW from the World Wrestling Entertainment. The first Monday episode was to be aired on 4th January 2010 and the promotion used the legendary Hulk Hogan as a major attraction.

It remained a Monday show for a few months before going back to being broadcasted on Thursday. It was then re-packaged as Impact Wrestling in May, 2011 and that name has stuck since. The program is broadcasted in countries like Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Ghana, Nigeria, Ireland, Italy, Ivory Coast, Mexico, United Kingdom and Portugal among others. TNA Impact Wrestling has enjoyed considerable success over the years. It is among the most famous wrestling programs of its time and for that everyone associated with the show deserve all the plaudits that come their way.
