For the 2013-2014 season, the excitement won’t stop with the regular season games. NHL, in sponsorship with Coors Light, is bringing NHL Stadium Series. This will pit seven of the best ice hockey clubs against each other in a five-game encounter. While each game has its own importance, the encounter between Rangers and Islanders is the one of the most anticipated. Scheduled to be held at Yankees ball ground, Yankee Stadium, the game between these two New York teams promises to be exciting. Part of the outdoor series, this game is not only a classic kickoff between two famous rivals but also is a one-of-a-kind outdoor ice hockey event.

Event Name: 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series

Game: New York Rangers vs. New York Islanders

Venue: Yankee Stadium

Rangers and Islanders are the two New York City based NHL clubs who share a deep rivalry. And this famous face off between the two clubs is about to take on an epic form in 2014 NHL Stadium Series. The clash between Rangers and Islanders will take place on January 29. New York Rangers will play two straight outdoor games in the series; the second one with New Jersey Devils.

The game between Rangers and Islanders is not the only one to look forward to in NHL Stadium Series. There are a whole bunch of other match-ups scheduled in the series as well. This season the ice hockey excitement won’t conclude with the Winter Classic game between Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. There are five extra games scheduled to be held over and above the regular season; between seven NHL teams. These teams include Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.

New York Rangers are known in the ice hockey world because of three distinct features: they are a part of the Original Six, they are among the oldest NHL clubs and they hold the record of being the first ever NHL franchise to win a Stanley Cup. Playing their home games at the renowned Madison Square Garden, Rangers boast an impressive record and a powerful squad. 

New York Islanders

With eight Hall of Famers to be proud of, Islanders have seen it all during their long journey. They have seen glorious times in the form of four consecutive Stanley Cup wins and have also seen their form hitting a rough patch at one time. But they have always stood among the top NHL franchises. Islanders have enjoyed a Stanley Cup dynasty which is something unmatched in the ice hockey world today.
