The Bobcat’s men sports include football, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf and wrestling. Women sports include basketball, cross country, golf, volleyball, field hockey, soft ball, swimming and diving and soccer. The School’s main rival in all sports is Miami University and their fierce rivalry has been given the term, "The Battle of the Bricks" as a tribute to each school’s red brick buildings.
Football:
The Bobcats play in the East Division of the MAC in the Division 1 Bowl Subdivision level of the NCAA and the team has been playing its home matches at the Penden Stadium since 1929. Over the course of their existence, the team has posted a 516–525–48 (.496) record, and have won three MAC East Division titles, five MAC Conference titles and one national title. Over the last few years, the team has seen a resurgence in the NCAA and has consistently posted good results. The team won their Division in 2009 and 2011, and is now regularly a part of bowl games. After losing a few times, the team won their first bowl game on December 17, 2011 against the Utah State Aggies with a 24-23 victory in the famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The team would replicate their success in the following season and won the 2012 Independence Bowl convincingly against the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Like in all other sports, the Bobcats have an intense rivalry with the Miami University, and the "Battle of the Bricks" is a keenly contested matchup. Ohio’s other rival is Marshall University, and the two teams meet in the "Battle of the Bell", with the bell trophy as the prize for the winner.
Basketball:
Ohio has one of the most successful basketball programs in their conference. Over their hundred year history, the team has posted a .571 winning percentage. The team has won six MAC tournament titles, nine MAC regular season titles, and has played in the NCAA Tournament thirteen times, with their latest appearance coming in 2012. The team also appeared in the famous College Basketball Invitational in 2008. The team plays at the thirteen thousand seat Convocation Center, which hosts a number of Bobcat sports, like Volleyball and wrestling. Just like in all other sports, the team’s main rivals are Miami University and Marshall University.
Golf:
The Bobcats are the only team in the MAC who have their own golf course. Both the men and women teams have enjoyed success in the sports and are notable for their various victories in national tournaments. The men team especially is among the school’s most celebrated for having won an impressive eighteen MAC titles.
Other Sports:
The team has been highly successful in a number of other sports as well. They have the highest number of MAC titles in wrestling, with fifteen. The Bobcats also pose an impressive swimming and diving record, in which their female squad has won eleven MAC titles, which is also more than any other program in the conference. The volleyball team is also on the rise and from 2003-2006, registered four back to back conference titles.
