Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t had the best of it for quite a few seasons lately but things have gradually started to improve under the watchful eye of Rick Adelman.  He has a proven track record of working wonders with underachieving teams and by the looks of it, his magic touch has started to work on Timberwolves as well. Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love and Chase Budinger are in a good form and coupled with Adelman’s return, it might just push Timberwolves towards playoff qualification. This is going to be an interesting season, one that fans can turn into a success by buying Minnesota Timberwolves tickets to root for their favorite team live at arenas around the country.

The Start

Minnesota Timberwolves were incepted in the year 1989. A “name the team” contest was held which eventually resulted in the current name of the team. They made their league debut on 3rd November 1989 in a game against Seattle SuperSonics. They were playing their first home game five days later against the Bulls. The Timberwolves ended up on the wrong side of the result on both occasions. The team’s first win came with their third ever game as an NBA team when they beat the Philadelphia 76ers.  Over one million fans turned up to catch their team play but, as it happens most of the time with new teams, the Timberwolves didn’t do too well on the court.

The Arrival of Kevin Garnett

Minnesota Timberwolves spent the first few seasons by posting losing records. Things started to look up in the mid 1990’s and a big reason for the change in fortunes was the arrival of Kevin Garnett to the roster. The franchise went 40-42 in the 1996-1997 regular season which although wasn’t a winning record but still was good enough to land the Timberwolves their first playoff berth.

Next season saw the team reach new heights. The franchise won forty five games during the campaign and lost thirty seven to record their first winning season. Garnett and another newcomer Stephon Marbury were working together to form a formidable partnership. Postseason appearances and winning records became a consistent theme for the team from Minnesota. Marbury left in 1999 but Garnett stayed to help Timberwolves win their first division title in the year 2004.

Post 2004 Till Now

For nine seasons between 1997 and 2005 the Timberwolves posted eight winning seasons and made it to the playoffs for the same number of times. That record still wasn’t good enough to land them a solitary division crown in 2004. Things began to go downhill once again starting 2005-2006 season. Changes were made to the coaching team and the playing roster over the next few years to make the team competitive once again. Rick Adelman came onboard in the year 2011 and balanced some things out. It has taken him close to two years to mould his own team. A lot of people fancy Timberwolves to make it to the postseason by the end of this regular season. They will need to start the campaign well and if they get some early momentum then those playoff predictions are very likely to come good.
