Colorado Rockies Tickets

The Colorado Rockies might be among the newest members of Major League Baseball but that hasn't stopped them from making an impact on the sport. They have shown they have the potential to take the next step. The blending in period looks set to come to a close very soon which makes the future so much more interesting for everyone associated with this promising young team.

The Beginning

The city of Colorado had always been deprived of a major league baseball team. Various attempts over the years were made by different people to do something about it but for one reason or another, those plans never materialized into anything concrete. Things however took a turn for the better by the time late 1980's came around. A new 0.1% sales tax was then sanctioned in the year 1990 so that a state-of-the-art baseball park could be constructed in Denver. Roy Romer, the Colorado governor then formed a special committee that was given the task of finding the right owners. The consortium being led by John Antonucci was given the nod.  The next step was to get the National League approve an expansion franchise. That happened in the year 1991 when Colorado and Florida were given their own Major League Baseball teams that were to commence play two years later in 1993.

Hard Times

The Colorado Rockies played their first game away from home at the Shea Stadium against the New York Mets on 5^th April, 1993. While they came up short on that particular occasion, their first win wasn't too far away. The stage was set for Rockies to take their bow at home for the first time. A staggering eighty-thousand two-hundred and twenty seven fans bought Colorado Rockies tickets to be a part of that monumental occasion. Their team didn't let those people down and romped to an 11-4 win against Montreal Expos. Overall Rockies struggled for the most part of their inaugural campaign which wasn't that unexpected since they were new kids on the block.  The support of their fans didn't waver and millions of them watched their home games live at the Mile High Stadium that year. The next season went more or less the same without much tangible success for Rockies. 1995 saw the opening of the team's own new ballpark the Coors Field. Rockies posted the first winning season on board and made the playoffs for the first time in their history.  The franchise did post three winning seasons and made it to the post season one only one occasion till 2007. Which leads us to The Winning Streak.

The Rockies posted seventy-six wins against eighty six losses in the 2006 season it wasn't really a surprise when a lot of people didn't give them too much of a chance to win anything. Rockies started the season slowly but picked up form at just the right time and won twenty one of their last twenty two games. That winning streak was good enough land them their first ever pennant. Rockies went all the way the World Series that year as well but came up short against the legendary Boston Red Sox. Rockies couldn't however maintain that momentum which has resulted in them compiling two winning seasons since then. Rockies have started the current campaign in decent enough form that has kept them within touching distance of top spot till now. Just a little more belief and who knows what they might achieve at the end of the season.
