Name: Cleveland Browns

Mascot: Chomps

First League Title: 1946

Cleveland Browns are an American Football team who have dominated football for decades. They have been trying to go regain their former glory days. The new season will soon kickoff proceedings which will give Browns another chance to make an effort to reach the top. Their fans are in for another amazing ride which is one of the reasons why Cleveland Browns tickets will once again be the talk of the town once again.

Formation

The formation of Cleveland Browns coincides with now defunct All-America Football Conference. Businessman Arthur B. McBride applied for the new league and he got his wish when AAFC sanctioned a football team for him. The franchise was to originate from Cleveland and Paul Brown was hired to be their first ever coach.

Immediate Success

Cleveland Browns flew out of the blocks and made a serious impact on the league right from the word go. They began their first season like a house on fire and chalked up forty four wins without a single loss against their name. AAFC remained active for four seasons and each of those campaigns ended with Browns doing the division and league double. Their record over those four years stood at an astonishing fifty two wins, four defeats and only three ties.

Switch to NFL

AAFC went out of business in 1949 and Browns made their way to the NFL after that. The team didn't let their standards slip and took to the new league like fish to water. They romped to a staggering seven conference crowns during the 50's, including two hat tricks between 1950-1952 and 1953-1955. On top of that, they also clinched three league crowns to cement their status as the league's team to beat.

Next decade saw them carry on from where they left off. Browns clinched three division titles, four conference championships and one league title to boot.  The 70's weren't that particularly successful and saw them win only one division championship. They once again started to get their act together and were crowned five division titles during the 80's.

The Drought

Cleveland Browns form has suffered considerably since then. They have made it to the postseason twice since then. They have been trying to come to terms with the sport once again ever since. There are signs Browns are about to get on the right track which makes the future even more intriguing for everyone associated with them.

Stadiums

Cleveland Browns moved into the Cleveland Municipal Stadium when they were formed in 1946. They remained there for a year short of five decades. Browns franchise then stopped playing for three years before once again starting in 1996. They began to play at the Cleveland Browns Stadium which is now known as the FirstEnergy Stadium.
