Team’s Formation and Brandings

Formed in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans, the team was initially a member of the American Basketball Association. After a year, the team moved to Long Island and became the New York Nets. Led by star player Julius Erving, the Nets managed to win two ‘ABA Championships’ in 1974 and 1976. After the ABA-NBA merger in 1976, the franchise became a part of the NBA and was later relocated to New Jersey in 1977. They played as the New Jersey Nets for thirty five seasons, during which the team experienced wins as well as losses. The club managed to bag two consecutive ‘Conference Titles’ while making to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003 season. In 2012, the team moved to Brooklyn, New York, and was rebranded as the Brooklyn Nets.

Home Arena

Since its relocation to Brooklyn, the team has been playing home games at the Barclays Center. Opened in 2012, the multi-purpose arena is located in the Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn; partly sitting over the Metropolitan Transportation Authority platform. After its formation, the arena has hosted several large concerts, conventions and sporting events while competing with the venues in New York’s top metropolitan areas such as the Izod Center, Prudential Center and the Madison Square Garden. The billion dollar facility easily houses over seventeen thousand and seven hundred people for basketball games. With modern infrastructure and state of the art technology, the arena offers the perfect environment to enjoy all types of basketball games in a memorable way.
