During its inaugural season, the franchise relocated to Moline, Illinois and was named as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. After the merger between Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League, the team became a part of NBA in 1949. In 1951, the club moved to Milwaukee and became known as the Milwaukee Hawks. After playing for four seasons in Milwaukee, the team saw another change in location. This time, the franchise moved to St. Louis, becoming the St. Louis Hawks. During this period, the franchise reached the peak of its success. They won 4 ‘Conference Championships’ and bagged the 1958 ‘NBA Championship’. In 1968, the team was rebranded as Atlanta Hawks after relocating to Atlanta, where they continue to play since then.
