Early Years
Born in 1957, Vince developed a passion for music at an early age. At the encouragement of his father, he learned to play several instruments before joining high school. During the late 1970s, Vince formed a high school band called the Bluegrass Revues that included Mike Perry, Bobby Clark and Billy Perry. After graduation, Vince played for several bluegrass and country bands such as The Cherry Bombs, Byron Berline and Sundance, and Boon Creek.
Vince later joined the national music scene when he became a part of the country rock band, Pure Prairie League. He appeared on the band’s eighth studio album, ‘Can’t Hold Back’, in 1979. The following year, he performed vocals on the track, ‘Let Me Love You Tonight’, which became the band’s most successful song to date.
Solo Career
In 1984, Vince ventured into a solo career, releasing his debut studio album ‘Turn Me Loose’. The album broke on the US Top Country Albums chart, reaching sixty-four spot. He released two more moderately successful albums, ‘The Way Back Home’ and ‘The Things That Matter’, before finding mainstream success with his fourth studio album, ‘When I Call Your Name’. Released in 1989, the album reached number two position on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified two times Platinum in the US.
Over the next decade, Vince released five studio albums, all of which were certified Platinum or multi-platinum in the US. These albums included ‘High Lonesome Sound’, ‘When Love Finds You’, ‘I Still Believe In You’, ‘Pocket Full of Gold’ and the chart topping ‘The Key’.
