Beginning

The idea of getting different bands together under one roof was initiated by Kevin Lyman while he was managing skateboard shows like Holiday Havoc and Vision Skate Escape. The first installment of the tour came in 1995 in the US and it spread like a new musical sensation in the country. The shoe and apparel manufacturer, Vans became the tour’s sponsor in 1995 and remains one of the biggest sponsors of the tour till date. For years now, the tour is known as the Vans Warped Tour.

Historical Overview

The idea of a large outdoor event was conceived by Kevin Lyman and the Warped Tour was first organized in selected cities of the US in 1995. Due to an overwhelming response from the attendees, the tour became an annual event. The tour grew in stature and attendance with time and in 1998 became an international favorite. It initially started as an event featuring rock, hardcore metal and punk but with time it has included artists from various other genres. The international installments of the tour have held successful events in Europe, Japan and Australia.

In 2009, the two main stages for the famous bands were merged into one big stage. This change continued in the following years but was restored to its original condition in 2012. In the same year, the tour visited UK for the first time and was well received by the attendees. Vans Warped Tour tickets sold well and made the event a huge success in UK. In 2013, Vans Warped Tour once again organized eventful evenings in Australia and UK.

Tour Highlights

The Vans Warped Tour is known for its extensive list of more than a hundred bands that perform simultaneously on different stages in the premises of the venue. Besides music, stalls for each band are arranged to sell their merchandise and to hold meet and greet sessions. Other exciting activities include barbeque huts and adventurous sports which double the fun of the event.

Each band is given thirty minutes of stage time to perform their set list; however two special stages are designed for the big bands and they are given 35-40 minutes to entertain the attendees. Musical shows and other activities continue till the day ends. Filled with fun, enticing music, thrilling sports and more, Vans Warped Tour welcomes everyone to have some special moments out of their busy routines.
