The Lumineers- Beginnings

The band's origin goes back to 2005 when it emerged as an artistic collaboration between the childhood friends, Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. The dynamic duo began writing and performing at different shows and small gigs in New Jersey and New York. In 2010, they were joined by Neyla Pekarek who would become the cellist and backing vocalist for the band. This trio, with their traditional yet inventive folk sound, played in a number of shows and concerts. The five-piece completed when Ben Wahamaki and Stelth Ulvang joined the band in 2012. Working as a team, the band organized their musical efforts and began recording for their first full-length album.

Pervasive Fame

The band's efforts proved to be fertile when they released a musically sound and lyrically rich album in April 2012. Their first self-titled album combined some of the old compositions as well as new songs. The album received positive reviews from the music critics and became famous among the listeners. Spawning smash hits like Ho Hey and Stubborn Love, the album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. It also entered many other international charts and was eventually certified Platinum record. Such commercial and critical acclaim made the band a successful international group. Recently The Lumineers were nominated for two Grammy and Billboard Music Awards.

Capable Quintet

The quintet is fronted by the multitalented Wesley Schultz, who is accompanied by the multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites. Neyla Pekarek contributes her skills as a cellist and vocalist. Stelth Ulvang plays mandolin, guitar, piano and accordion whereas Ben Wahamaki serves as a bassist for the band. All of the band members combine their creative energies and weave their music records with great passion. The chemistry and harmony between the band mates bind them together and make them a unique musical force.
