Born in April 1970, Luis Miguel is a Latin pop singer who has continued to mesmerize the audience with his outstanding live performances. Due to his fruitful contributions to the Latin pop music, Miguel is considered as one of the best male pop vocalists in the country.
Studio Albums
Since the start of his musical career, Miguel has released several albums including Un Sol, Directo Al Corazón, Cómplices, Decídete, Romances, Meu Sonho Perdido, Grandes Éxitos, Navidades, No Culpes a La Noche, Luis Miguel and many others. Navidades is Miguel's first Christmas album that was nominated for a Grammy Award in the pop category.
The album, Romances was Miguel's first Spanish language album to have charted at number fourteen on the Billboard Top 200 chart. By selling over two million records of the albums Romance and Segundo Romance, Luis received recognition of high sales by the RIAA in 1991.
With sales of more than three hundred thousand records on the first day of release, the album, Cómplices broke records and went four times platinum three days after its release in Mexico. Not only this, Miguel's self-titled album also achieved gold and platinum certifications in four countries just three days after the its release.
Concert Tours
In his eight month long Amarte Es Un Placer Tour between 1999 and 2000, the Latin artist headlined concerts in USA, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Uruguay, Spain and Brazil. The tour had a total of more than a hundred concerts that were attended by almost one and a half million fans.
Comprising of one hundred and twenty four concerts, Miguel's Mexico En La Piel Tour between 2005 and 2007 debuted at number one on the Billboard World Top Boxscore chart and spawned over ninety-five million dollars in revenue. In 2006, more than three hundred thousand fans took Luis Miguel tickets to the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico where the brilliant artist delivered thirty sold out concert performances.
Moreover, Miguel's 33 Tour from 2003 to 2004 also peaked at number one on the Billboard World Top Boxscore chart while the Luis Miguel Tour opened at the fifth spot on the 2011 list of highest-grossing tours in North America.
Major Awards
Over the journey of his career, Luis Miguel has won several awards including five Grammys and four Latin Grammys. At a young age of fourteen, he received a Grammy Award in the category of Best Mexican American Performance for his duet with Sheena Easton.
In 1992, Luis Miguel received the Billboard Awards in the categories of Best Latin Artist, Best Singer in Spanish and Best Spanish-language Album-Romance. In 1993, he grabbed the Billboard Award for Best Latin Male Artist of the Year and a Latin Grammy Award for the Best Pop Male Artist in the year 2000. In 2003, Prince Felipe of Spain honored Luis with a special award for being one of the hot-selling foreign artists in his country.
