Cinderella derives its roots from the beguiling score and book by the legendary theater duo, Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers. The main plot of the musical is based on the 1957 television production of Cinderella. Since its incarnation, the musical has been adapted to numerous mediums including stage, film, animation and many others.

Broadway Premiere and Reception

After numerous past theatrical productions, Cinderella made its Broadway premiere at the Broadway Theatre in March 2013. The resourceful book for the musical was written by Douglas Carter Beane. With his pensive approach and powerful vision, he effectively transformed the basics of the story and revamped it with light humor. This new production also made changes in the orchestrations and the musical score.

The musical received rave reviews from the theater critics and was hailed for its freshness and originality. It also met with great enthusiasm from the theatergoers and scooped up many Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Cinderella tickets became one of the bestselling events tickets and the cast performed to various sold out shows. The Creative Crew

Together the cast and the backstage crew of Cinderella make one of the most dedicated and hardworking teams. The musical is directed by Mark Brokaw. He is one of the highly revered names of theater and has won several awards for his acclaimed projects like Reckless and How I Learned to Drive. The wonderful orchestral arrangements are made by Andy Einhorn.

The breathtaking backdrops are designed by Anna Louizos while Ken Posner contributes as the lighting designer. William Ivey Long designed the beautiful costumes for which he won the Tony Award. The amazing dance routines are set by one of the most talented choreographers, Josh Rhodes. Together, this creative group has redefined standards of Broadway musical.
