The Akron Civic Theatre
Expected to take place at the Akron Civic Theatre, the performing arts center is one of the only five atmospheric theaters left in the county. The historic building was constructed in 1929 and was inaugurated as a movie palace. Designed by John Eberson, the Akron Civic Theatre’s architect and interior was based on Mediterranean influences. It also presents European antiques, medieval carvings and Italian sculptures. In the year 2002, one of the biggest renovations of Ohio took place at the facility. Costing $22.5 million, the seating space at the facility was expanded. Throughout the years, the venue has held popular musical events where artists and bands namely Air Supply, Don Dixon & Marti Jones, Il Divo, Celtic Woman and Ryan Humbert, to name few, have performed. Apart from concerts, the Akron Civic Theatre also hosts theatrical shows and musicals. Popular presentations include Bye Bye Birdie, the Wizarad of Oz, Scooby-Doo!, Beauty and the Beast, MadCap Puppters and the Ghost of Blues. This time the theater is inviting Pink Floyd lovers to attend an upcoming show that will bring forth, Brit Floyd.
Brit Floyd- The Tribute Band
The Brit Floyd band is a Liverpool based rock ensemble that was formed in 2011. Performing its very first show in Liverpool, England, the rock band has gained international fame. It is often praised as being the closest to the real thing and is known as the “Greatest Pink Floyd Show” in the world. Managed by Chas Cole, Brit Floyd is currently signed to CMP Entertainment Company. The band consists of 12 members which include Damian Darlington, Ian Cattell, Carl Brunsdon and Bobby Harrison on guitars, Tom Ashbrook and Rob Stringer on keyboards, Arran Ahmun on drums and Ola Bienkowska, Emily Jollands, Amy Smith and Jacquie Williams on vocals.
Ever since 2011, Brit Floyd has embarked on annual tours with the PULSE Tour being its most recent tour. Previous tours include the UK & Ireland Tour of 2011, European Tour in 2011 and A Foot in the Door World Tour of 2012. Previous year’s PULSE Tour saw the band performing all across Beirut, Hamburg, Czech Republic, Warsaw, Vienna, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands and Norway, including countless others. The tribute ensemble has toured all over the world, presenting some of Pink Floyd’s most popular music.
The Discovery World Tour
In the last quarter of 2013, Brit Floyd announced the initiation of the 2014 Discovery World Tour. This tour is expected to bring forth music from over fourteen of Pink Floyd’s albums. The concerts will be combined with laser and light shows. The tour has been named after Pink Floyd’s box set that has been released recently. The music that will be played at these shows will range from Syd Barrett’s psychedelic pop sounds of the sixties to the eighties’ “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” and popular “Division Bell” of the nineties. The brand new show presents the perfect show with grave attention paid to each detail. Prepare as the tunes of the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame inductee band’s music is reinvented.
