Kick-start
Fronted by Jon Bon Jovi, the group burst onto the music scene in early 80s. Prior to the band's formation, Jon Bon Jovi started as an independent musician while working odd jobs. Destiny brought David Bryan and Jon Bon Jovi together and they founded the band Atlantic City Expressway. This duo performed in the underground clubs and also opened for many renowned musicians of that time including the Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
The band completed by 1983 when the talented and energetic Richie Sambora and Tico Torres joined in. Both of them were experienced artists and they had performed with a number of groups. The quartet released their first self-titled record in 1984. The album made its way to the charts and gave the band their first top 40 hit Runaway. The group's second album, 7800 Fahrenheit came out in 1985 and peaked at 37 on Billboard 200. Producing hits like Only Lonely and Silent Night, the album was certified as Gold.
Striking Stardom
For the next album, the band had a more mature take on recording and songwriting. Slippery When Wet came out in 1986 and made them widely popular. Breakout singles such as Livin' on a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name pushed the album to the top of Billboard chart and it eventually turned out to be a Diamond record. This commercial victory also opened doors for critical success in the form of many accolades. The band also went on an international tour and celebrated this awesome achievement.
The next record New Jersey was released in 1988 and proved that the previous success of the band wasn't a stroke of luck. Topping the charts in UK and the US, the album churned out smash hits like Bad Medicine, Born to Be My Baby and I'll Be There for You. Embarking on a world tour once again, the group celebrated the success of the album with their international fan base. Bon Jovi tickets sold really well and the band witnessed jam-packed venues in more than 22 countries which made them the most successful touring band of that time.
Continuous touring got tiresome for the band and they decided to go on a short break after 1990. With almost one year hiatus, the band returned with its album Keep the Faith in 1992. For the rest of the 90s, Bon Jovi released a number of popular records such as Cross Road, These Days and Crush which took their fame and success to the next level.
New Millennium
2000 started with a bang when another hit album Bounce came out in 2002. Along with that, a box set named 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong was released which enhanced their public image. During 2005-2008, Lost Highway and Have a Nice Day were launched. These two albums were colored with soft rock and country sound that helped the band expand their music log.
In the following years, Bon Jovi released several number one hit albums such as The Circle, Inside Out and the most recent What About Now. These albums assisted the band to sustain their top-notch status in the international music and till date they remain one of the leading music groups of all time.
