The English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys is considered among the first few music acts who earned a strong fan following primarily through the internet. They were quoted by some critics as having revolutionized the concept of music marketing. Having gained considerable attention via fan websites and word of mouth, the rockers were eventually signed by the renowned label, Domino Records. Comprising of members Alex Turner, Nick O’Malley and Matt Helders and Jamie Cook, the band went on to produce various hits thereby expanding their fan base by leaps and bounds. They are now ready to put together a smashing live concert of their old and new contributions. Arctic Monkeys tickets for the upcoming show have now been made available at reasonable rates.
An Unusual Beginning
Arctic Monkeys gave their first performance in June of 2003. Subsequently they began recording demo tapes at 2fly Studios. A total number of seventeen demo songs were recorded and distributed among the fans in the form of CDs at the band’s concerts. Under the name of Beneath the Boardwalk, the tracks gained immense popularity throughout fan based websites such as MySpace. This led to further demand for the band’s live and recorded performances.
The band was signed by Domino Records in 2005. Their first single under the label was ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor.’ It topped the UK Singles chart, beating the tracks by the top acts of the time like Robbie Williams and Sugababes.
Debut
Arctic Monkeys released their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ in January of 2006. It set the record of the fastest selling debut album in the history of British music, selling more than 360,000 copies within the first week of release. It contained some of the band’s biggest hit singles such as ‘When the Sun Goes Down’ and ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor.’
Other Contributions
The rock stars’ second record ‘Favorite Worst Nightmare’ released in 2007. Likewise their debut album, it reached the number one spot on the UK Albums chart. ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ and ‘Brainstorm’ are among the prominent songs of the album. It also won a BRIT Award in the ‘Best British Album’ category. Arctic Monkeys’ third album ‘Humbug’ marked a change in their music sound and reflected a sense of maturity in terms of the themes and lyrics. The songs of the record were written by the members themselves. Famous singles of the collection include ‘My Propeller,’ ‘Cornerstone’ and ‘Crying Lightning.’
‘Humbug’ was followed by the indie rock artists’ fourth music album ‘Suck It and See.’ Released in 2011, the record was met positively by the fans and the critics. It sold around 150,000 copies worldwide within the first week of release. It also won the ‘Best Album’ Mojo Award of 2011.
Recent Endeavors
Arctic Monkeys’ most recent music contribution is the album ‘AM,’ released in 2013. It features appearances by guest artists such as Pete Thomas, Bill Ryder and Josh Homme. Some of the increasingly popular songs of the record are ‘Do You Wanna Know?’, ‘One for the Road’ and ‘Why’s You Call Me When You’re High.’ Like every one of their previous albums, Arctic Monkeys are currently promoting this recent effort through a live tour. They will also be performing hits from their old releases at the event. All this and much more makes the upcoming string of concerts highly anticipated among the music fans.
