Besides performing at different gigs and events, the band recorded songs for their first self-titled EP. The EP was released in the fall of 2003 and it received a favorable response from their listeners and fans.

Signing with the Merge Records, Arcade Fire released their debut studio record, Funeral in 2004. The album hit the music charts in different countries including the US and UK.
