Alejandra Guzman has garnered immense popularity in her field. Over the years, her fans have seen many of her faces, which include her title as the Mexican Madonna as well as the Latin pop world’s “bad girl”. Going through different phases of her life which include good and bad times, she has been able to develop a unique and lovable personality. Hothouse Upbringing & Mexican TV
The Mexican Queen of Rock was born in a house where her singing and acting talents were appreciated and groomed. Born to Silvia Pinal, the actress and rock n roll singing father, Enrique Guzman, little Guzman made her acting debut when she was only two months old, in her parents’ TV show Silvia y Enrique. As she was growing up, she would travel with her mother and be a part of her dramatic company. When she was in her teens, she was casted side by side her mother in the musical “Mame”. From there she realized that her real passion lies in music.
As a child Alejandra’s parents motivated her to complete her studies before entering the entertainment industry and she followed their advice. After completing high school, she decided that it was time to break into the music industry. In order to do that, initially she appeared in several Mexican television soap operas. Her career found a start when she came across Miguel Blasco, the Latin music producer and succeeded in convincing him to help her with her debut album which was later titled “Bye Mama”. Right from the start, she managed to develop a very strong repute. Her music clearly shows that she takes The Rolling Stones and Billie Holiday as her inspiration, and that they affect her music in a lot of different ways.
Elternamente Bella to La Guzmán – En Primera Fila
After the release of her debut album, Alejandra continued to perform live as well as record music. However, her biggest break came with the release of Elternamente Bella, a single that peaked at number one on the Mexican and several other countries’ charts. A year later, she released her second album by the name of “Flor De Papel”, which featured hit singles. However, this time around, her fame wasn’t limited to Mexico. She was starting to be recognized within the United States as well.
During the late 90s, Alejandra Guzman’s career became a victim of numerous controversies, which included her marriage to Farrell Goodmen, who was convicted of drug selling in Germany. However, she divorced him later. Alejandra managed to drag herself out of the shadows of controversy which were eating away her career. In 2002, after the release of her album “Soy”, she was honored with her very first Latin Grammy Award. Henceforth, there was no stopping her. Since then, she has been awarded with some of the most prestigious music industry awards, which include several Grammys and Premio Lo Nuestro.
