American Bluegrass act, Yonder Mountain String Band is considered one of the best in the genre. The happening band is all set to rock their fans across the US this fall. The four members of Yonder Mountain String Band have earned a good reputation for their music that is highly enjoyable both live and on tape. Formation & Early Years:
The band from Nederland, Colorado was formed in 1998. The two founding members Dave Johnston and Jeff Austin had performed together in a band in their college days. Years later, they were brought together by their love for music to form the band. They added Adam Aijala and Ben Kaufmann to complete the lineup.
Their debut album Elevation was released a year after their formation. The album also featured appearances by other bluegrass artists like Darol Anger, Sally Van Meter and Mike Marshall. They followed with more albums with each release gaining the group a loyal fan base.
Starting off as an opening act for other acts, the group has gone on to find immense popularity. Gaining in fame over the years, the Yonder Mountain String Band has come to be an established name in music industry. Six of their albums have charted in the top five of the U.S. Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums charts. They have also won acclaim for doing covers of other artist's songs. Artist's whose songs they have covered include Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
