Queens of the Stone Age is all set to rock music arenas across Australia and New Zealand on their upcoming tour with Nine Inch Nails. The turn of the year will bring much delight to QOTSA fans in the two countries when their favorite band will perform live on stage. Even before the tour, QOTSA has a number of lined up for fans in the United States and United Kingdom. Queens of the Stone Age tickets are selling fast as the band’s live performances draw closer.
The beginning of QOTSA
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Josh Humme decided to form his own band after breaking up with Kyuss in 1995. Originally the band was named ‘Gamma Ray’, but with grievances from namesake German power metal band, it was later changed to ‘Queens of the Stone Age’.
The band’s debut release came out in the form of a two-track EP, titled ‘Gamma Ray’, which later also became a part of their debut album ‘If Only’, released in 1996. The following year saw the first live appearance of the band in Seattle, Washington. The same year saw a split EP release which was also the first release under the new name of the band.
The Incredible Journey
Queens of the Stone Age has been one of the most celebrated and sought after hard rock bands of the 2000s. The eclectic approach adopted by the musicians to produce blues and rock based albums truly distinguishes the band from its contemporaries. When Homme formed the grunge-metal band with the Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, Monster Magnet guitarist John McBain and Screaming Trees bassist Van Conner, nobody expected this talented ensemble would take over the rock music scene by such storm. After the debut album release, drummer Alfredo Hernandez, singer Chris Goss, and guitarist Dave Catching also joined the band.
The band’s second album, ‘R’- a reference to the movie rating - was released in 2000. The album earned the band not only a massive fan following but also a healthy dose of courtesy accolades from major publications including the likes of Rolling Stones. QOTSA have also performed at the Rock in Rio festival, as well as Ozzfest.
The band has taken a few steps that set them apart from others, and have earned them a massive fan following around the world. Their live performances, though based on old techniques, never fail to leave the audience breathless and awaiting more. The music produced by this talented ensemble is a hot favorite among rock fans and remains inimitable in its essence. It is hardly a surprise then to see Queens of the Stone Age tickets in such high demand.
