Once Upon a Mötley Crüe
Mötley Crüe was formed in 1981, by Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx. The duo was joined by Vince Neil and Mick Mars later on. Over the years, they gained reputation for being the most “notorious” rock band of the world, as well as one of the top selling rock acts, with sales crossing 80 million records. Throughout their career, the band members have been successful in keeping that “persona” about them. They are known for their hedonistic living style, as all of the members have had to deal with law every now and then. They have been often locked behind the bars and have suffered addictions.
A few years after its formation, Mötley Crüe got a chance to perform at the US Festival. After their live performance there, the band found its foundation and eventually immense fame. They earned popularity for their unusual behavior, weird clothing, overly high-heeled boots, crazy makeup as well as backstage antics. Their repute of heavy usage of drugs and alcohol was established as well. Their merging of glam rock with heavy metal brought about a series of hit albums throughout the 80s, including “Shout at the Devil” and “Girls, Girls Girls”.
Every Rise Hath a Fall – Reunion till The End
It is only human to fall after a big dive. After years of glory and success, turmoil hit Mötley Crüe, and downfall finally caught up with them during the 90s. For a whole decade, the band saw its popularity wane, and eventually it broke up. During the years of break up, some members embarked on their solo projects, while others joined other bands. In 2004, Mags Revell, an English promoter started the mission of reuniting the band.
After several meetings with the band members, four of Mötley Crüe finally announced their reunion by the end of the year. This led to the release of a compilation album and in no time Mötley Crüe was back on its feet and selling big. After further touring and recording, in March of 2013, the band announced its permanent breakup, which will be done in style, on a yearlong “The Final Tour”. It is time to preserve the band’s three-decade long legacy.
Alice Cooper – The Guest Star
In the Los Angeles press conference, Mötley Crüe announced that Alice Cooper, the top selling shock rock singer of his era, will be joining them in this farewell tour. With his career spawning more than five decades, Cooper has been famous for his unique shows that feature electric chairs, guillotines, blood, baby dolls and boa constrictors. He has also been known for his unusual makeup that he wore to every concert. His music and style has inspired a whole generation of rock stars, with their gory songs and violent performances. Now this legendary rock star is going to embark on a tour with Mötley Crüe, and be there to say goodbye to the band that has rocked the world for the past thirty years.
