Early Stints
Kathleen’s humorous side was evident since childhood as she loved telling jokes. Her educational experience in journalism helped in polishing her presentation skills. After graduating from college in 1988, she took a job in print media and also performed in open mic nights in various local comedy clubs. Soon she quit her job and chose stand-up as a full time career.
Due to her fresh material and charming personality, Kathleen Madigan became a regular comedy act in the native clubs. Within a short period, she made it to the TV and starred in a number of shows. Some of her initial television appearances include E!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Not Just Another News Show. By regularly appearing in these programs, she became one of the most promising TV performers of the time.
Success and Regular shows
Kathleen Madigan rose to fame when she performed in HBO’s Comedy Half Hour. A lasting series of shows began after that and apart from performing in those shows, she headlined many comedy festivals and her own live events. In 1999, her hilarious solo routines at the Just for Laughs: the Montreal Comedy Festival established her as one of the most prominent stage celebrities of the country.
A series of successful events followed in the coming years and she enjoyed mainstream popularity. In 2002 she co-headlined USO Comedy Tour along with fellow comedians and performed for the military personnel in Kabul. In the same year, she was a part of the World Comedy Tour. Kathleen Madigan tickets sold well during that period and made her one of the most demanded stand-up performers.
In 2004, she participated in the second season of the reality TV show, Last Comic Standing. Making her mark on the show as one of the top three contestants, she returned as one of the penal members in 2007. Besides her numerous TV appearances, she released CDs and DVDs of her live shows that also became popular with the fans. Her vast repertoire also includes a weekly radio show on the Blue Collar Comedy.
Recent Actions
Most recently, Kathleen Madigan has been part of The Green Room with Paul Provenza and Ron White’s Salute To The Troops. She has also starred in 2013 documentary, Why We Laugh: Funny Women. With such strong portfolio to her credit, Kathleen is among the most reputable TV and stage celebrities. She never fails to please her audiences with something fresh and interesting.
