Inception and Early Records
Depeche Mode emerged as an organized music force in 1980 when the band members recorded Some Bizzare Album. The band got positive response when they performed in local shows and gigs. Later in the year, the group released many successful singles like Dreaming of Me, New Life and Just Can’t Get Enough. These songs entered the UK charts and encouraged the band to release a full-fledge album.
Their first studio record Speak & Spell came out in November 1981 and was a top ten hit on the UK charts. Despite the mixed reviews from the critics, the album sold well internationally and was certified as Gold in UK. The second album The Broken Fame released in September 1982 and proved be more successful than their debut album. Hit singles coupled with a number of live performances helped the band establish their repute.
The Destined Fame
The commercial and critical success of the band multiplied as the years passed. Mode’s third album Construction Time Again ranked at 6th on the UK charts and boosted the group’s image. The following album Some Great Record was launched in 1984 that entered the Billboard 200 and went Platinum in the US. The next two records Black Celebration and Music for the Masses hit the international charts and earned them widespread popularity.
Songs of Faith and Devotion and Ultra were Mode’s first No.1 albums in the UK. Singles like I Feel You and Walking in My Shoes proved to be massive hits with the listeners and also won them many awards. The start of the new century brought more victories in the form of foreign chart-topping albums like Exciter, Playing the Angel and Sounds of the Universe. Such massive success was not a stroke of luck, but involved their endless efforts which paid off and earned them the fame that they rightly deserved.
Delta Machine, Mode’s most recent record, marked another musical addition in their prolific career of more than three decades. 2013 proved to be a promising year for the band as the album received commercial and critical acclaim that gave way to their current world tour. The band’s Delta Machine Tour is among the hottest concert series of the year. Depeche Mode tickets are one of the most sought after show tickets this season. The band is successfully playing at key venues around the US and Europe.
