Christina Perri’s Big Moment
Earlier in her career, Christina Perri struggled a lot; her road to success wasn’t easy. However, opportunity knocked on her door in 2010, through the “So You Think You Can Dace” show of the Fox channel, in which she was asked to perform. Selecting the song Jar of Hearts, she embarked the stage. She had been preparing for this moment since her childhood, and the twenty four year old Philadelphian singer won the hearts of her viewers through the emotional, raw performance of the heart breaking song and came instantly into the limelight. The song went on to sell millions of downloads and landed her a contract with Atlantic Records. Perri left her job as the café manager in Beverley Hills and finally set off to follow her dreams for real.
Debut Album and Mainstream Success
Over the years, the young singer has came up with eleven more songs like Jar of Hearts, which have made it to the playlists of millions of her fans across the world. They were released in the form of her debut album titled “Lovestrong”, which according to her, reflects her deepest feelings. She explained in an interview that when she sat down and reviewed her own songs, they brought two words to mind; Strength and Love, hence she came up with the name. “Writing about love is who I am”, says the young rising star. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and in only one week managed to sell 58,000 copies. Within the United Kingdom, the album became 2011’s 13th highest selling debut record.
Excessive Touring and ‘Head or Heart’
After the successful release of her debut record, Christina Perri embarked on a tour across the world titled “The Lovestrong Tour”. The tour consisted of seventy one dates and lasted for a whole year. In 2011, Perri also released the song A Thousand Years and in March of 2012, released Distance. During the same year when she was making a stop in San Juan, she announced that she has started working on her second studio album as well. In addition to her active year of promoting her debut album, she also served as the opening act for “Love Is a Four Letter World Tour” by Jason Mraz, which went across North America.
By the mid of 2012, Perri announced to her millions of fans over Facebook that her Christmas special EP will be released by the name of “A Very Merry Perri Christmas”. The same year, Perri received yet another recognition when her song, A Thousand Years was included in the soundtrack of The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn – Part 2. The song also won Perri her very first BMI Award. Meanwhile the song Something About December from her recently released EP was receiving a lot of airplay as well.
Starting from 2013, Perri started talking more about her upcoming album and began posting pictures regarding it on her Instagram page. Meanwhile she also went on a three date charity tour for “To Write Love on Her Arm”, a nonprofit NGO. By the end of 2013, the first song from her upcoming “Head or Heart” album was released titled Human. In the start of 2014, she finally announced March as its release month and the tour in its support will commence the very next month.
