Andrea Bocelli was passionate about music even as a child. Growing up with a weak eyesight, he found comfort in music and would sing to himself. Inspired by the legends like Enrico Caruso, Mario Del Monaco, Beniamino Gigli and Franco Corelli, Bocelli imitated their style and practiced his skills. He started playing the piano when he was six and later extended his learning to saxophone and flute. As an adult, Andrea trained under the opera great, Franco Corelli. His latest album "Passione" hit the shelves in 2013, topping the US Classical Album charts. He has followed the release with a worldwide Passione Tour that has taken the music lovers by storm. Since Bocelli successfully blends classical tunes with popular music, his audience are diverse and of various age groups. In "Passione", the star has collaborated with the pop icons like Jennifer Lopez and Nelly Furtado. The album also includes a cover of Elvis Presley's hit number, "Love Me Tender". A harmonious collection of romantic numbers, Passione highlights Bocelli's effortless singing and powerful vocals.
Awards and Honors
Andrea Bocelli's 21 years journey in the music industry includes numerous accolades. He has been honored with the "Order of Merit of the Italian Republic" as well as the "Order of Merit of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella". He sang a duet with Celine Dion titled "The Prayer" which won a Golden Globe in the "Best Original Song" category. The music genius has to his name seven World Music Awards and six Classical Brit Awards. For his contribution to live theatre and operas, Bocelli was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
