Sioux Falls Stampede – History

Ever since its formation in 1999, Sioux Falls Stampede has been able to impress the fans as well as the analysts with its talent and playing techniques. Tier 1 junior team, the Stampede found the most success in 2005 season when it won Anderson Cup for the first time. The team was able to produce its best regular season statistics that year and also ended up winning the Division title. It advanced to the Clark Cup Finals representing the Western Division but ended up losing to Des Moines Buccaneers.

2006-2007 season was also a successful one for Sioux Falls Stampede as it clinched its very first Clark Cup. The games that the team played which led to this impressive victory were praised by the fans and critics. Appearing as one of the hottest teams, the Stampede defeated favorites like Lincoln Stars, Tri-City Storm and ended the undefeated record of Indiana Ice. In the finals the team took the cup away from the hands of Black Hawks, putting up a remarkable score of 3-0. Over the years the team has produced many players who have made it to the National Hockey League.

Sioux Falls Arena

Opening in 1961, the multipurpose Sioux Falls Arena has been hosting all kinds of events. Primarily an arena for ice hockey and basketball, besides being Sioux Falls Stampede’s home venue, it also serves as home to the basketball team, Sioux Falls Skyforce. Sioux Falls Arena can accommodate over 4000 fans for hockey and has a capacity of above 6000 for basketball games.  On Sioux Falls Stampede’s game nights the stands are filled with the team’s colors; blue, black and gold. Sioux Falls Stampede tickets for the home games always sell in advance as the fans don’t want to miss the live action.

The spectators seem to have a great time at the live games, cheering out loud for their favorite side and are often supported by the mascots.
