On Friday, August 16 2013, Salt Lake Bees celebrated the 90's Night at the Spring Mobile Ballpark during the team's match against the Las Vegas 51s. The Bees wore the retro Salt Lake Buzz uniforms and held an auction for the Buzz jerseys. Apart from receiving the autographed jerseys, the fans also had the opportunity to meet their favorite Bee players and take photographs with them.
Utah based Minor League Baseball franchise, Salt Lake Bees is a member of the Pacific Coast League and an AAA affiliate of MLB's Los Angeles Angels. Some of the former notable players of the team include Bernardo Brito, Chone Figgins, John Lackey and David Ortiz.
Origin
A major league player, Joe Buzas shifted the PCL's Portland Beavers to Salt Lake City in 1994. Between 1994 and 2000, the team became to be known as the Salt Lake Buzz but changed its name to Salt Lake Stingers in 2001. In October 2005, the Stingers announced their name change to the Salt Lake Bees under the ownership of late Larry H. Miller.
Home Field
Salt Lake Bees play their home games at the Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah. Located close to the old Derks Field, the ballpark first opened its doors to public in April 1994. Formerly known as the Franklin Quest Field and then Franklin Covey Field, the baseball park has a capacity to house more than fifteen thousand people. Besides being a resident venue for the Salt Lake Bees, the minor league ballpark has twice hosted the Triple-A All Star Game featuring Minnesota Twins. Other than that, it has also hosted several concerts, soccer games and college baseball matches. One of the highlight features of the park is the outfield area. If you are going to watch baseball match with your family, take your blankets and chairs along and sit in that area. Moreover, every seat in the stadium offers a great view and none of them are very far from the action. On top of this, the spectacular view of the Wasatch Mountains is also a nice touch.
