The Upcoming Maverick’s Game

The forthcoming event is expected to take place at the multi-use arena, the Allen Event Center located in Allen, Texas. Inaugurated in 2009, the facility that is owned by the City of Allen cost over fifty two million dollars to construct. Known for hosting ice hockey games, musical concerts and special events, the center can cater to as much as 8600 audiences. The venue currently serves as home ground to teams namely the Allen Americans and the Dallas Sidekicks. Notable events that have taken place here include Lone Star Conference Women’s and Men’s Basketball Championships, Indoor Football League’s Texas Revolution games and the Miss Texas Pageant of 2012. This time the state of the art arena is becoming host to the game between two ice hockey titans, the Missouri Mavericks and the Allen Americans.

Introducing the Challenging Team

The Missouri Mavericks are preparing to take on the Allen Americans, at the latter team’s home stadium. Formed in 2009, the Mavericks are a professional ice hockey team based in Kansas City, Missouri. Currently a part of the Central Hockey League’s Berry Conference, the team plays all its home games at the Independence Events Center. The Mavericks was founded after the Central Hockey League decided to create an expansion team for the Independence Center.

Initiating its season in 2009, the team’s name was decided after a local newspaper named the Examiner held a contest for it. Finalizing the name on 24th June, 2009, the Missouri Mavericks’ team colors and logo were also decided. The team’s first game took place on 13th November, 2009. Over 5500 spectators attended the Maverick’s first game. The team’s debut coach, Scott Hillman left his place as head coach in the team Knoxville Ice Bears, to join the Mavericks. The coach Scott Hillman is known for leading the Ice Bears to winning two consecutive Coffey Trophies and President’s Cups. Currently initiating his sixth season with the team the Missouri Mavericks are practicing hard to take one of their fiercest rivals.

Missouri Mavericks’ Roster

Supporting the colors orange, light blue, black and white the Missouri Mavericks are currently affiliated with AHL franchise, Chicago Wolves. The current roster of the Mavericks consists of forward players; Obi Aduba, Eric Castonguay, Andrew Courtney, Tyler Currier, Colt King, Rob Kleebaum, Mike Ramsay and Evan Vossen, wringers; John-Scott Dickson, Trevor Kell and Sebastien Thinel, defencemen; Anders Franzon, Colten Hayes, Henrik Odegaard, Dave Pszenyczny and Matt Stephenson. Lastly goaltender position for the team is filled by Shane Owen.

Season by Season Mavericks’ Record

The first season the Missouri Mavericks played was a successful one. Not only did the team finish in fifth place in the Northern Conference, it qualified for the playoff quarterfinals. In the 2009 season, the Mavericks scored 68 points and 64 goal points. The 2010 season saw similar success with 80 points and 66 goal points. Being ranked in 4th place in the Turner Conference, the Mavericks once again made their way to the playoffs. In 2011, the Missouri Mavericks were able to make their way into the playoff semifinals, being placed amongst the top three teams of the Turner Conference. The 2012-2013 seasons placed the team in 5th place in the Central Hockey League with 66 goal points. Watch the highly renowned ice hockey franchise compete in an upcoming exciting game.
