Minnesota Lynx is a relatively new franchise in the league but it is certainly not new to the play. Since the start, Lynx have showed a lot of potential whether it’s just a practice game or a playoff game.

Where It All Started

The team was founded in 1999 as an expansion team by the WNBA along with Orlando Miracle. The team’s inaugural season saw an attendance of over 12,000 fans. Lynx defeated Detroit Shock 68-51 right in their first game which showed the team not only has got talent but also a hefty fan base.

Rise and Fall

Starting off at firm footing, the team’s performance began to wane in 2001. However, 2005 was a transitional period for the franchise as although the season had a poor finish but it paid off well in the form of Lynx winning the draft lottery. Years following this saw Minnesota Lynx struggling with their performance but things started to brighten up in the 2008 season.

The situation improved even more in 2010 season where the team was back on its winning track in season 2011 with the stellar performance from Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson. It was a glorious time when the Lynx won the championship in 2011, living up the expectations of many people.

Every new season brings new efforts on the part of the team to relive a time like that again; a record which is the best not only in team’s history but also in WNBA. Out of fifteen years of the team’s career, it has made it to the playoffs five times, putting on a power play every time, building hopes that any next season could bring a championship win.
