The band has made The Excalibur Casino on the Las Vegas strip their home since February 2011, and regularly perform at the venue, becoming its premier entertainment attraction. Following their popularity and success, the band has now been granted a two year extension in their contracts.
The Bee Gees were formed in 1958 and consisted of brothers, Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb. The band’s signature music style was singing three part harmonies, which gave them a distinct voice, and was easily recognizable. The Bee Gees had two major periods of success during their careers; first in the late 60s and early 70s as a rock act, and then in the late 1970s as performers of disco music. The trio wrote not only wrote all their hit songs, but also wrote and produced music for other artists as well.
In the late 1970’s the band worked on their most successful project to date: the sound track of the feature film, Saturday Night Fever. With John Travolta dancing to their music, the sound track became a worldwide phenomenon, and is credited with breathing new life into disco music, a genre that was fast dying out. Some of their hits from the album, Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love and Night Fever, not only reached number one in America, but also became chart toppers worldwide, thereby launching perhaps the greatest period in the history of disco music.
The Bee Gees released twenty two studio albums, two live albums and three sound tracks. They have sold more than 200 million records worldwide, becoming one of the best selling artists of all time. The trio has won nine Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, five American Music Awards and was honored with the Legend Award by the World Music Awards. They were inducted into the Song Writers Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Today, only Barry Gibb remains as the sole surviving member of the Bee Gees.
Australian Bee Gees:
The Australian Bee Gees comprise Michael Clift, David Scott and Wayne Hosking. Scott takes the part of Robin Gibb and performs vocals, Clift like Barry Gibb performs vocals and guitars and Hosking takes on Maurice Gibb and performs keyboards, guitars and vocals. Formed seventeen years ago, the trio sent some of their demos to the Bee Gees management company, and was given the blessings to go ahead with their project.
The best thing about the band is that their repertoire not only includes the Bee Gees’ greatest hits, but they also perform some of the band’s earliest work and some of their later work as well. Along with the music, the band also takes special care to focus on replicating the Bee Gees live on stage. That includes wearing wigs, donning the same clothes, and using the same instruments.
The show is aided by multimedia footage of the Bee Gees, which creates a wonderful atmosphere for the audience. The show usually features songs in chronological order, starting from their early days and moving on to their greatest hits.
With rave reviews coming in, the critically acclaimed show is definitely is the next best thing to actually watching the Bee Gees perform live.
